As we continue to grow, we're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Retail Assistant Store Manager to join our team in relation to our new flagship store in the Crossing, Christchurch (due to be opened in May 2025). What We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Retail Assistant Store Manager with established customer-focused skills, ideally with prior experience as an assistant manager in a retail setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and enhance sales and service through outstanding customer service.

- The ability to create a memorable shopping experience for every customer, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive sales and deliver exceptional customer service, contributing to a positive store environment.
- Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for customers to encourage brand loyalty and repeat business.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve store targets and KPIs, including sales goals and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Assist in managing store operations ensuring adherence to the company's policies and procedures under the store manager's direction.
- Help maintain a well-stocked and visually appealing store environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of store products, trends, and Jamie Kay's brand story to provide customers with insightful recommendations.
- Support the store manager in achievement of store KPI's and program implementation.
- Step in to lead the team and oversee operations in the store manager's absence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years in retail, with demonstrated experience in a leadership or assistant manager role, preferably in the apparel or lifestyle industry.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and KPIs.
- Strong proficiency in operating POS systems and computers.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings, and peak holiday periods such as Black Friday, Christmas, and Easter.
Physical Requirements:
- The role requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 kg and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 20 kg.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout shifts.
