Mō te tūnga | About the role:

We are seeking a People & Capability Advisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of people strategies that enhance Te Puia's workforce. This position is key in embedding Māori values and driving organisational excellence through effective HR advisory and operational support.

This is a true HR generalist role, providing broad support across all aspects of HR, from recruitment and employment relations to learning and development, health and safety, and employee engagement. You will be a trusted advisor, partnering with managers and employees to ensure a high performing, engaged, and inclusive workplace.

In this role, you will provide expert HR guidance and support across key areas, including:

  1. Providing expert HR advice and support to managers and employees on employment relations, performance management, workplace policies, and best practices.
  2. Ensuring compliance with employment laws and workplace policies, contributing to a fair, transparent, and legally sound work environment.
  3. Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, including job advertisements, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding to ensure a seamless experience for new employees.
  4. Supporting training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and career progression.
  5. Maintaining and updating HR systems, providing workforce insights through accurate reporting and data analysis.
  6. Contributing to the continuous improvement of HR policies, processes, and practices to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  7. Driving initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture, strengthen employee engagement, and enhance organisational belonging.
  8. Promoting and supporting health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring employees have access to the necessary support and resources.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Experience in an HR advisory role, ideally within a culturally rich or values-based organisation.
  2. A tertiary qualification in HR, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
  3. Strong knowledge of employment relations, compliance, and HR best practices.
  4. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, fostering trust and collaboration at all levels.
  5. Proven ability to develop and implement HR policies, frameworks, and workforce strategies.
  6. Hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  7. A proactive and adaptable mindset, with problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Commitment to upholding Māori culture, values, and tikanga within workplace practices.
  9. Highly organised and results-driven, with a focus on continuous improvement.
