About the Role

Are you craving a new challenge in a leadership position? Lakes Mental Health & Addiction Services (MHAS) have a rare opportunity for someone who is passionate about nurturing and growing the nursing workforce, to take on the role of Clinical Nurse Director (CND). The CND is an integral part of the MHAS Senior Leadership Team (SLT) providing clinical and organisational direction towards the service priorities and driving innovative change. The role is based in Rotorua but responsible for staff across the Lakes area.

The Clinical Nurse Director (CND) provides professional mental health nursing advice to the organisation to ensure that Lakes MHAS are maintained to a high professional standard. The primary responsibilities are the provision of professional advice on mental health nursing issues for the Lakes-employed mental health nurse workforce; advice and leadership in the management of the interface with the primary workforce. The CND role participates in strategic planning both on a local and national level and contributes to population mental health planning for the Lakes district. A Strong Priority remains embedding the model of care Te Ara Tauwhirotanga Pathways that lead us to act with Kindness.

About You
  • Masters' Degree or equivalent either completed or in progress.
  • Bachelor of Nursing with current Nursing / RN practising certificate with no restrictions on scope.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting nurses to deliver high quality Mental Health clinical practice and extensive across the specialty areas of mental health & addictions.
  • Ability to support and implement evidence based practice in line with service direction.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement of MHAS and delivery of mental health inpatient and community care.
  • Ability to work autonomously with great work output and equally enjoy being part of a team.
