ABOUT TENNIS NEW ZEALAND:

Tennis New Zealand is the governing body for tennis in New Zealand, overseeing the management of the sport which attracts over 300,000 participants across the country. They play a crucial role in organizing both national and international tennis events, including the prestigious ASB Classic.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

In the Sport Development Team, the Junior and Youth Participation Manager is focused on fostering tennis involvement among young people throughout New Zealand.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main Responsibilities
Junior and Youth Participation

  • Develop and execute strategies in collaboration with Regions/Associations and Clubs to increase youth participation in tennis nationwide.
  • Promote tennis accessibility within diverse communities and marginalized groups, ensuring inclusivity and removing barriers to participation.
  • Lead the implementation of engagement strategies for young participants in alignment with the TNZ Youth Advisory Group.
  • Establish partnerships with schools to integrate tennis into their curriculum, linking participants to local clubs and facilities.
  • Work closely with the Coach Development team to attract and retain youth coaches effectively.
  • Gather feedback from participants to shape the future of tennis participation among Junior and Youth demographics.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to launch promotional campaigns targeting young players and families through various channels.

National Programme Management

  • Oversee the delivery and communication of National Participation Programmes, focusing on Tennis Hot Shots, to Regions/Associations and Clubs.
  • Expand the reach of National Programmes, especially Tennis Hot Shots, by increasing venues and participants.
  • Coordinate communications, including newsletters and social media, in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
  • Educate coaches and clubs on delivering the National Programmes in partnership with the Coach Development Team.
  • Track programme statistics and maintain accurate information in the National Database.
  • Evaluate programme effectiveness, gather feedback, and make necessary improvements to enhance participant experience.
