About the Trust

Tūaropaki Trust was born from the unity of 279 Māori land Owners in 1952. The original owners of the Tūaropaki whenua believed that they could achieve more by working together. They amalgamated their family lands under an overarching vision to develop the land to provide opportunities for our whānau.

Today, Tūaropaki Trust is an Ahu Whenua Trust under the auspices of Te Ture Whenua Māori. There are more than 2,700 Owners, a mix of individuals, Whānau Trusts and Kaitiaki Trusts, all descended from the original Owners. The Trust is a kaitiaki for ancestral taonga and manages complex business interests in the food and energy sectors, with assets valued at around $1 billion.

    The Role

    As the Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for leading the development and roll out of the Trust's health and safety road map, including a critical risk management framework and associated systems and processes.

    Additional duties will include:

  4. Developing and implementing a fit for purpose health and safety roadmap
  5. Manage all safety management activities e.g. investigations, reporting, assurance
  6. Coach and support kaimahi
  7. Champion safety excellence across Tūaropaki
  8. Establish strong reporting processes and culture
  9. Actively promoting the Trust's values and interests
  10. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating technical information
  11. Share technical expertise and best practices with others to enhance their skills and capabilities
  12. Actively promote the Trust's values and interests

    What You'll need to be successful
  13. Recognised tertiary health and safety qualification
  14. Substantial operational experience
  15. Deep experience in contemporary health and safety risk management tools and frameworks
  16. Prior expertise in development and implementation of a health and safety road map
  17. A track record of making quality decisions within your area of responsibility
  18. A proven ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, navigate issues and solve problems
  19. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and leverage relationships and partner with colleagues and others across the industry to achieve shared outcomes
