We're looking for an experienced editor to join our incredible team full-time.

As an Editor you are a major contributor to the overall style and tone of the show by determining which elements tell the story best.


As an Editor for The Project, you are a major contributor to the overall style and tone of the format by determining which elements of the edit tell the story best, you play a crucial role in the composition of the show's content.


Responsibilities:

  • Generate original ideas and contribute to the editorial process including editorial comment on packaged content.
  • Source vision, still images and audio as required.
  • Confirm clearances have been obtained for vision, still images and audio prior to incorporation in any material for transmission where that vision, images and audio has been sourced by the editor.
  • Edit promos and packages to a template, brief or independently.
  • Promote innovation and excellence in the editorial process exploring alternative software and the limits of the AVID technology.
  • Comply with industry standard protocols and adhere to WBD NZ workflows and procedures.
  • Log all music used in the editing process for APRA/AMCOS reports and comply with the terms of the WBD NZ Music licenses.
  • Where required, ensure all facts and vision are thoroughly checked, legalled and of a professional standard.
  • Learn and become a proficient user of the WBD NZ systems (eg iNews).
  • The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.
  • Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
  • Other duties as required.
  • The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties, from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position.

Qualifications:

  • Requirement of at least 5 years offline editing experience across a broad range of varied storytelling and stylistic content.
  • Strong understanding of the technical processes of post production and television production.
  • Highlevel AVID editing skills with ability to work unsupervised.
  • Awareness of classification and legal standards so that you have the ability to keep legal advisers of the show across any relevant issues, and implement their advice where given.
  • Teamoriented individual who provides a high level of communication, support and respect to team members across all levels and holds respect for other team members' responsibilities.
  • An intrinsic interest and passion for keeping informed about current social and political events and issues both locally and internationally.
  • A clear and positive communication style that demonstrates an understanding of the various pressures on others in the team.
  • Ability to function professionally in a highpressure environment with daily deadlines.
  • Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • Strongly committed to creating an environment where all employees are included, are treated with dignity and respect and are in a position to contribute to our future success.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment with daily deadlines
  • Strong storytelling skills able to assemble vision and audio to convey narrative both independently and to a brief
  • Intimate operational and technical knowledge of AVID editing software and capabilities
