Summary of key tasks:
Working as an integral part of the Transportation team your responsibilities will include:
Undertaking and managing designs to client requirements, national and local council standards

Undertaking and managing construction surveillance activities

Preparing and managing designs, reports, specifications, and other deliverables for transport and civil engineering projects, ensuring they satisfy the required brief and expected levels of technical excellence

Leading design teams where required

Supporting the Transport team in New Zealand and collaborating with internal Mott MacDonald teams, subconsultants and clients to deliver innovative technical solutions


Developing and maintain close internal and external client relationships and focus on delivering work to an excellent standard, in line with client expectations.


Delivering a range of projects related principally to transport projects but also providing support to water, built environment and energy projects.

You'll have considerable experience within the industry, working on transport and civil engineering projects.

This means that you'll already have well-established relationships with government agencies and contracting clients or have the passion to do this.

You're either a qualified Civil Engineer or you'll have other qualifications that would make you eligible for membership of Engineering New Zealand:
Te Ao Rangahau.

  • Minimum academic, professional qualifications, experience and other skills:
You will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, abilities, and experience:10+ years' experience in transport related or civil engineering projects

Degree in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering

Demonstrable hands-on experience of design and management of transport and civil engineering projects from concept to implementation, with sound knowledge of design standard requirements

Knowledge and experience of Civil3D and AutoDesk road/highways design software or equivalent

Strong report writing skills including ability to write engaging proposals

Enjoy being client-facing and keen to develop client relationships to assist the team in delivering projects and be proactive with clients to deliver and win work

A passion to be a mentor to our early career professionals

Strong communication skills and team working

Ability to develop and implement processes and procedures
