Phlebotomist:
Part Time, 0.8FTE, 64 hours per fortnightWe have an exciting opportunity for a resourceful, motivated and friendly person to join our Phlebotomy team.

This position is to fill a part time permanent 64 hours per fortnight vacancy.


You will be a part of a supportive team providing a patient focused service and rostered to work from 5 to 8 hourly shifts on weekdays, weekends and including public holidays.

Service delivery starts from 7am until 5pm weekdays and 7am until 12pm on weekends and public holidays; you must have flexibility to extend these hours if service delivery expectations change.


You will be required to work at both Waitakere and North Shore Hospital sites and service the Forensic Mental Health Unit (Mason Clinic) once or twice a week.


To be successful, you will have:

  • At least 2 years continuous demonstrated phlebotomy experience and skill
  • Experience and competence in venepuncture using various blood collection equipment including vacutainer and butterfly methods and procedures
  • Ability to work an 8 hour day, starting at 7am or 8am or ending at 5pm
  • MS Council Registration with current annual practicing certificate (preferred) as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLPAT or MLT) however applicants willing to work towards MS Council registration may be considered
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Able to inspire confidence in patients and work calmly under pressure
  • Able to deal sensitively with a wide range of people
  • Communicate well with patients and coworkers
  • Good listening skills
  • Practical, organised and able to pay attention to detail
  • Able to follow procedures and instructions
  • Good computer technology experience and skill
  • Reliable, responsible team player
  • NZ residency or NZ citizenship (preferred)
