DIVERSIONAL THERAPIST/ ACTIVITIES CO-ORDINATOR
The Ultimate Care Group is a privately owned Specialist Residential Aged Care Services Provider. We offer rest home, hospital, and dementia care to the elderly in 19 residential facilities throughout New Zealand.

At Ultimate Care Oakdale, we have
permanent part time opportunity available for a qualified Diversional Therapist or an Activities Coordinator working towards their Diversional Therapy qualification, experience in an Aged Residential Care environment.

You will be our kaitiaki for our Activities Program, dedicated, reliable and a passion for working with the elderly.

the role

You will:

  • Deliver the scheduled activities program for the village hospital as required.
  • Providing clinical support to our passionate activities team and work closely alongside the Care staff
  • Assisting and guiding our residents to take part in activities programs that are appropriate for their needs.
  • Building strong relationships with residents, staff and visitors.
  • Remuneration rate: dependent on experience, qualifications and registration.

pūkenga - About you**We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, creative, outgoing and can think outside the square. You will have a genuine love for the elderly and want to make a difference in their lives, with the support of their families.

You will need:

  • To have completed or working towards completion of a Certificate in Diversional Therapy and Community Health (level 4)
  • Experience in both Diversional Therapy and Caregiving.
  • Experience with kitchen food service will also be an advantage in this role.
  • To be able work on a weekend day when rostered.
  • Current First Aid certificate is preferred. If not this can be attained.
  • Strong communication skills capable of working with a variety of residents, their families, and staff.
  • Empathy and commitment to excellence in care of the elderly
  • Have Diversional Therapy Registration or be able to register.
  • To be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Te Ao Māori and tikanga to ensure all services are culturally appropriate, fit for purpose and embedded into our day to day mahi.
  • Available to work full time rostered shifts.
