Head Medical are working with a major referral centre seeking post foundation doctors and Core Trainees who have gained exposure to a variety of surgical experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity commencing August 2023 suited to doctors considering a surgical or critical care career pathway.
You will be based in Hamilton, just 90 minutes south of Auckland.

Tertiary referral centre and large teaching hospital (600 bed) Enjoy restaurants and cafes, arts and culture, major sporting events Affordable housing market and excellent schooling options Easy access to the rest of the North Island, beautiful beaches, national parks, lakes and mountains The Role The Hospital in Hamilton is one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals with over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres and provides local services for a population of 200,000 and tertiary services for a region of 700,000.

Waikato serves the largest Māori population and third largest Pacific population in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Clinical specialities include Women's and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, and Mental Health and Addiction.

The Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.

You will work as part of a supportive team within the cardiac unit with opportunities to conduct research and quality improvement projects, manage inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of the Cardiothoracic Surgeon, participate in department meeting and teaching.

The cardiac unit performs over 650 open heart procedures a year with an active TAVI, aortic surgery and around 200 thoracic cases with active thoracoscopy services uni and multiportal access.

The Location Situated right on the banks of the mighty Waikato River, Hamilton is the 4th largest city in NZ and it continues to expand.

Key to this growth is its central location, easy access to other parts of the country and its affordability.
Auckland is onlya 90 minute drive north and Tauranga is just over an 1hr to the east.

The west coast and east coast beaches are within easy reach at weekendsfromRaglan, Mount Maunganui, Waihi Beach and of course,the stunning Coromandel Peninsula.

And don't forget the 18 tranquil lakes towards Rotorua, also just 1hr 30mins away.

Nearby Lake Karapiro hosts national rowing anddragonboat regattas each summer.
The FMG Stadium Waikatohosts a range of top quality sports from rugby league, rugby sevens and football.
