Auckland Council's Communications department has an opportunity for a Content Editor within their Planning and Channel team.


We're looking for someone to nurture and grow our OurAuckland website, bringing strong digital editing and publishing skills who knows their way around a CMS, and can use data and insights to optimise content and drive website performance.


We're a small-knit team with a collaborative working style, and we'd like you to be flexible, proactive and an all-round good sort.

The opportunity


The mission of Auckland Council's Communications Department is to win the confidence of Aucklanders through communications that engage and inspire.

We'll achieve this by developing and delivering communications which grow the relevance, preference, attribution and awareness of the Auckland Council brand while supporting the vision for Auckland, Council priorities and operational objectives.


An enthusiastic advocate for our brand, the Content Editor's primary role is responsibility is to manage content on the OurAuckland website; reviewing, editing and publishing news and events content for the OurAuckland website, and e-newsletters.


Day to day you can expect to:

  • Responsible for publishing and editing of digital content on OurAuckland
  • Support the endtoend planning and delivery of content in partnership with internal stakeholders and our external content agency
  • Take ownership of driving content performance using data and insights, and provide feedback to other teams to improve quality of content
  • Work with the channel manager to optimise the OurAuckland website for best practice UX
  • Advise marketing teams around content for regionwide campaigns
  • From timetotime support Council's emergency response teams
  • Make use of Ubiquity, Umbraco, Google Analytics and other tools
  • Maintain editorial standards, and be able to assess content for reputational risk
  • Train other users on the CMS platform
