To meet the demand for our Te Pōkaitahi Reo students moving up though the levels from 1 – 6, at this time, we are seeking two full time permanent Lecturers – Te Pōkaitahi Reo (to start in July, One Lecturer position will be located at our Whakatāne campus site and will start a level 3 Te Pōkaitahi Reo cohort in semester 2, 2024 (July start). The other Lecturer will deliver a level 4 Reo Rumaki online cohort so location can be at our Tāmaki or Whakatane Campuses or at a location to be negotiated.

As a Lecturer - Te Pōkaitahi Reo you will join a large team of existing experience Lecturers whose primary responsibility is to recruit students, to plan and deliver quality lectures and assessments, to support learning through face to face or online delivery, to monitor the papers and mentor students.

As the positions are part of our academic staff, you will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of the papers that are taught within your curriculum area.

Our successful applicants will have:

  • A minimum qualification at bachelor level in the field of Te Reo Māori is required to teach all levels of our Te Pōkaitahi Reo suite of programmes (L1-L6).
  • Experience monitoring, assessing, and delivering Te Reo Māori papers and programmes.
  • Tertiary teaching experience and a teaching qualification, preferably adult teaching.
  • Te Reo Māori proficiency to at least level 7, and a comprehensive understanding of Tīkanga Māori as well as local iwi dialect of the region. Fluency in Te Reo preferred.
  • Experience using online delivery tools as the programme has mixed mode delivery for some cohorts and fully online for other cohorts.
