The Organisation


Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions.

With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.


The Opportunity


MidCentral provides a range of planned and unplanned health care services to over 183,000 people across the North Island from the west to the east coast and is distinguished by the Tararua and Ruahine ranges that traverse the centre of the district.

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational leader as its Pitau Whakarei Māori. Reporting to the Group Director Operations, the Pitau Whakarei Māori is an integral member of the Organisation's Leadership Team. This position is responsible for providing leadership, strategic advice and direction across MidCentral,

to ensure our commitment to achieving equitable health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori is achieved.
To be successful in this position you will have a

thorough understanding of te Ao Māori and deep respect for the aspirations of whānau, hāpori, hapū and Iwi. You will be comfortable in a te reo rangatira setting. You will be capable of developing meaningful relationships at various levels in order to drive an equity agenda. You will be an inspiring and agile leader known for your extensive senior leadership experience in similar sized organisations.

You will also possess an in-depth knowledge of the health environment, its' stakeholders and the overall issues of equity and the Treaty of Waitangi in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
