STIHL SHOP Greenmeadows is a highly successful family-owned business that has been operating for 40 years (10 years under its current ownership).

The business specialises in the sale, servicing and repair of outdoor power equipment – serving domestic, farm and commercial customers (forestry, garden care, arboriculture, and civil).

In addition to power equipment the business also sells, services and installs market leading brands of home heating (wood, gas, pellet fires)

Success of the business to date has been due to its ability to forge and maintain long term customer relationships, so it is imperative that applicants enjoy selling and interacting with the public.

The role encompasses a combination of general retail sales, retail management (reordering, merchandising, opening, and closing the store, etc).

You will be required to book in workshop jobs, research parts, keep the retail area clean and presentable, and remain abreast of current pricing and promotional activities.

The job is physical, so you will need to be reasonably fit and active.
Applicants for the role must have:* At least 5 years of relative work experience, or a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A "can do" positive attitude.
  • Administrative experience (very competent with computing and online research), and preferably retail experience.
Knowledge of and experience with outdoor power equipment would be an advantage - but not entirely necessary as product training will be provided.
  • Strong organisational skills (being tidy is a must).
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
  • A full and clean driver's license; and
  • Ability to work on rostered Saturdays (the business operates 5.5 days per week).

The outdoor power equipment industry has historically been a male dominated environment, whereas nowadays female staff are common, and very successful in the industry - so ladies we would love to hear from you too.

An ideal candidate for this role is a mature and experienced person who is looking to take a "step up" in their retail career, or conversely somebody well versed in sales and management but looking for a positive change.
