About the Role:

We are seeking a Homestay Advisor to join our International Student Support team and play a vital role in supporting our international students' accommodation needs.

As the Homestay Advisor, you will be responsible for maintaining our homestay portfolio, including the placement of international students into accommodation.

You will ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and provide support to our host families.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within the student support team making a positive impact on the lives of our international students and contributing to their success at Wintec.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct safety checks, including house visits, for new host families and regular ongoing checks for existing hosts, and ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Coordinate homestay placements for international students, ensuring compatibility between students and hosts families.
• Manage data and filing systems related to homestay placements, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to address student and host concerns and provide support as needed.
• Organise training sessions and events for host families to enhance their understanding of cultural differences and promote positive relationships.
• Willingness and ability to be responsible for the afterhours phone as per rostered hours as required.
• Monitor and respond to feedback from students and host families, resolving issues in a timely and effective manner.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely payments to host families and accommodation providers.
• Stay updated on relevant policies and regulations related to homestay accommodation and implement changes as necessary.

Employment Details:

• Location: Hamilton City Campus, with occasional work at other sites.
• Reports to: International Student Services Manager.

Qualifications and skills:

• Relevant degree or diploma.
• Minimum two years' experience in administration, customer service, or related field.
• Ability to follow and review processes and procedures.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to deal with complex issues in a professional and calm manner and affect a mutually acceptable outcome.
• Ability to exercise judgement in problemsolving.
• Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues as part of a customer services team, and to resolve issues and meet agreed outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with financial tasks.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements related to homestay, and the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice (preferred but not required).
