Our Mortuary department based at Wellington Hospital is currently on the hunt for a fully qualified and registered Mortuary Technician or similar, with excellent team management and organisational skills, to take up the role of Mortuary Supervisor.
About the role:
- Lead and support the Mortuary team to provide effective daytoday operations of the mortuary, and the delivery of exceptional services to our internal and external clients.
- You will be assisting the Forensic and Perinatal Pathologists with a wide variety of postmortem examinations from sudden natural deaths to suspicious deaths and homicides, as well as undertaking other daytoday operational duties.
- The department also facilitates Wellington Hospital's Return to Patient Tissue Management Service, body admissions and release, and family bereavement viewings.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience working in a mortuary either in New Zealand or overseas will be comprehensive as will your knowledge of the day-to-day requirements of a forensic pathology department.
- Experience leading a team, with strong communication and organisational skills and proven ability in staff management including, training, coaching, rostering, performance review, and payroll management.
- A high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity, with exceptional interpersonal and customer services skills
- Experience in reviewing and improving workflow, with a focus on continuous improvement within the department.

Applicants shall be able to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Medical Laboratory Sciences Council as medical laboratory scientists or registered mortuary technicians.
