About the role:


We have an exciting opportunity for an intermediate level analyst (Research and Data Analyst) to join the Regions, Sectors, Business & Economic Development team at the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE).


As a Research and Data Analyst you will lead analytical projects aimed at improving the well-being of New Zealanders through supporting our economy to become more productive, resilient and sustainable.

You will work closely with policy teams to understand their evidence needs, scope appropriate analysis and deliver robust and timely insights.

You will get the opportunity to work across a range of topics and draw on skills and expertise from across the team, branch and other parts of MBIE.

Skills and experience required:

We are keen to hear from you if you have (several of the following):

  • two years or more experience in a related field
- experience with code-based analytics (R, SQL preferred)
- an enthusiasm for learning and a passion for generating insights
- confidence in sharing and communicating insights to inform key decisions about policies and programmes
- the ability to build lasting working relationships with a flexible, adaptable and pragmatic approach
- a proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative
