Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for an experienced midwifery clinician and career academic for the role of Pūkenga - Lecturer in Midwifery to join Te Kura Tapuhi Hauora - School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice . You will be expected to teach into the Bachelor of Midwifery and the Master of Health (Midwifery) programmes as well as continuing to build upon your teaching expertise and teach across all three trimesters of the university calendar. In addition, you support research in the School, and to provide supervisory support to the School's growing research programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Commitment to teaching and learning as evidenced by:
- Teaching in the Bachelor of Midwifery Programme within Te Kura Tapuhi Hauora - The School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice.
- Play an active role in the development of taught content in the undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery Programme within Te Kura Tapuhi Hauora - The School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice, including on-going regular curriculum reviews of module content and materials and contribution to learning and teaching strategy.
- Contribute to the development of the school's wider academic and strategic direction and planning.
- Engage in professional development that leads to enhanced teaching practice and inclusion of practitioner perspectives.
- Contribute to the School's engagement with stakeholders, particularly in respect of health agencies, including with government, district heath boards and partners relevant to our capital city location.
Undertaking impactful research and scholarship that:
- Engages constructively and productively with colleagues within and outside the University.
- Is evidenced by a range of activities (e.g., building positive relationships with communities and relevant organisations, publishing in international and domestic journals, research funding, community engagement and outreach).
- Successfully attracts and supports research students into the discipline of midwifery.
You will be an enthusiastic teacher, with a doctoral degree in a relevant field and experience commensurate with the level of appointment. The following attributes are essential.
You are:
- A registered midwife with a current MCNZ practicing certificate.
- A completed or commenced doctoral degree in a relevant field, or other relevant qualifications commensurate with the role.
Demonstrated evidence of:
- Successful teaching in midwifery at pre-registration/tertiary level.
- Developing skill with a range of pedagogies and technologies.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Evidence of commitment to the use of technology and innovation to enhance teaching practice.
