Your role - tō tūranga

First and foremost, we want you to succeed and grow at Interislander. This is why we will invest in your initial and ongoing training to build your competencies and confidence to make the right decisions and work safely in our safety critical environment. Maintain, update, and manage the Interislander Safety Management Systems and associated programs in accordance with the requirements of the Safety Management System and relevant legislation.

You will also be responsible for:
  • Integrity, development, and management of SharePoint SMS
  • Liaise/Consult with relevant managers and masters when company procedures, work instructions, and other documentation require issuing or amendment
  • Provide assistance and take part in Internal Audits & Spot Checks
  • Entering External audits into ORA so the appropriate actions are triggered/tracked
  • Coordinate Corrective / Preventative Actions & responses to Non-Conformances and Observations raised by auditors
  • To the DPA, & Interislander Operations & Health & Safety Teams
  • Developing ORA for the Marine Safety Team
  • Record-keeping for the SMS, safety meeting minutes and any significant H&S events, Investigation reports and reporting to & from external agencies (MNZ, TAIC) with regards to the Occurrences / Hazards
  • Managing the production of contractor ID Cards

Your skills - ō pūkenga

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to take part in creating, maintaining, and developing the Interislander Safety Management System with end objectives embedded in helping the company deliver its care and protect values and Zero Harm principles at the front line.

Key requirements for applicants include:
  • Maritime Qualifications good but not essential (Internal ISM auditing, H&S Training)
  • Knowledge of maritime law, rules and regulations & RORO/ROPAX operations
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance
  • ISO9001 Six Sigma, Change Management, etc
  • SharePoint Management (above normal user) & Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated working experience in Safety Management systems, preferably in the Maritime and /or transport sector
  • Handling stakeholder consultation/ engagement
  • Ease in working with documents and handling basic admin support
