Te tūnga | The role
This role is permanent. You will report to the Manager - Publishing.

The Publishing team is a centre of excellence for writing, editing, and publishing of accessible information across Stats NZ. The focus of the work is to support publishing of statistical information. However, we also provide leadership and quality assurance for publishing in general, across all Stats NZ tools and systems. We ensure that the right standards are applied to published content and that consistent publishing processes are followed.


In this role you will work closely with the Publishing team to develop end-to-end customised processes and workflows to meet their specific requirements, improve existing processes, and implement new ones.

In this role you are responsible for

  • Providing technical support to our Publishing team to enable them to deliver content to our online audiences.
  • Providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the team's publishing tools (including SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 software and services) to ensure their smooth operation and optimal performance.
  • Supporting, training, and advising on best practice use of the technologies used in the publishing process (including Sharepoint, and other Microsoft_365 tools, and the CMS) to enable timely delivery of Stats NZ outputs.
  • Troubleshooting issues, and where needed, coordinating and managing escalations.
- helping manage site analytical tools for Stats NZ public web platforms, working alongside colleagues in the Statistical Change and Assurance group to provide reports and advice to staff on how to interpret the results.

Information relating to your:

  • Knowledge of MS 365 (for example, SharePoint, Teams, MS Forms, Power Apps, Power BI, and Power Automation).
  • Knowledge of a CMS (for example, Silverstripe), CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and user interface design and user experience design would be an advantage.
  • Experience troubleshooting, supporting, and training staff using MS365 and other online tools.
  • Analytical and technical problemsolving skills.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching colleagues, as well as contributing to improvements of team processes and skills.
