About the Role
The Waitaha team of the National Public Health
Service within Te Whautu Ora are leading the way to ensure health and wellbeing
considerations are integrated across all sectors and we are looking for
a Health in All Policies Advisor to join the team.
Based in our Community & Public Health offices,
our small Policy team is dedicated to working together with stakeholders on
policy development using a broad determinants of health lens and a Health in
All Polices framework.

beneficial relationships and communicate new ideas is essential.
You - ll spend your time liaising with health staff
as well as key stakeholders within other sectors such as local government,
Non-Government organisations and government agencies. Your ability to analyse
complex information, write reports, facilitate meetings, coordinate joint
pieces of work, and your networking skills will be put to good use in this
exciting role. The role offers variety
in topic and projects, as well as the ability to play a role in influencing the
health and wellbeing of the population for the better.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills:

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range
of stakeholders and deliver collaborative outcomes

  • Experience in facilitation methods
  • Experience in developing and managing projects Relevant
  • Welldeveloped communication skills
  • Proven writing skills in a range of formats, ie,
reports, newsletters, submissions.

  • Demonstrated selfstarter
  • Proven experience in working across sectors
  • Experience working in a bicultural framework
  • Sound knowledge of the determining factors that

affect health and health inequities in NZ Desirable:

  • Public Health qualification
  • Sound knowledge of local government
infrastructure

  • Understanding of urban planning
  • Knowledge of the policy process
  • Understanding of the health impacts of public
policy

  • Understanding of a Health in all Policies
framework

  • Knowledge of HIAP tools, eg, Health Impact
Assessment

  • Understanding the intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

The Future of the Health Industry
It will be a condition of employment for this role
