Job Description:


An exciting opportunity in our Auckland office is available for an experienced, creative, and motivated Façade Engineer to become part of the team.

You will be collaborating with the best in the business, building on your specialised technical knowledge whilst working on the design of some of the most exciting projects in New Zealand and internationally.


The Inhabit Façade Engineering team is internationally distributed, and the team is location independent, enabling access to projects across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, USA, and Europe from any location.

We uniquely work across all stages of the project lifecycle, from business case and advisory to sustainability and carbon strategy to detailed modelling, construction, and post-occupancy.

This means that we have a focus on real-world results rather than the hypothetical targets seen in other parts of the sustainability industry.

Your typical day at Inhabit could involve:

  • Carrying out design engineering for façade and build-ability consultancy, including material knowledge and installation techniques
  • Performing detailed engineering computations and structural façade analysis
  • Providing façade design advice and reporting to clients on buildings projects
  • Being accountable for all façade documentation including calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Reviewing contractor submissions; shop drawings and calculations
  • Project management and administration
  • Assisting in preparing tender submissions
  • Attending inspections during construction, installation and fabrication as required
  • Communicating with design team as well as working autonomously
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients on projects and develop contacts within the façade industry
  • Liaising with peers and other disciplines within the Group as required

Qualifications:

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structures)
  • Proven
    experience in facade design engineering within a facade consultancy or facade contractor local experience ideal
  • Must be experienced in facade system design and reviewing of drawing submissions
  • Ideally 2+ years' experience with a facade contractor or consultancy
  • Familiar with relevant local codes and standards related to facades
  • Proficiency in relevant facade & structural finite element software e.g. Strand7, Mepla
  • Experience in producing and reviewing calculations for various facade elements and writing documentation at the different stages of a project
  • Excellent problem solving and organisational skills
  • Proactive, demonstrate initiative, focus and a strong commitment to your profession
  • Able to work independently with some supervision where required
  • High proficiency in MS Office
