Since 2017 Pact has worked in partnership with the Department of Corrections to provide primary mental health services to Tāngata Whaiora requiring care at Palmerston North Community Corrections, Manawatū Prison, Whanganui Prison, Hawkes Bay Regional Prison and Rimutaka Prison.

Our service is known as the Improving Mental Health Service.

We are looking for an experienced mental health professional to join our primary mental health team based at Rimutaka Prison

The role

  • We are seeking an experienced mental health professional to join our Improving Mental Health Team at Rimutaka Prison.
  • You will work in a safe environment with a supportive team and access to clinical guidance.
  • You will provide mental health assessment and treatment to Tāngata Whaiora with mild to moderate mental health needs at Rimutaka Prison.
  • You will have the autonomy to develop and provide evidencebased therapeutic and cultural interventions that best support the recovery of the people we work with.

  • You will be culturally competent and able to provide culturally responsive care.
  • You will have excellent holistic mental health assessment skills.
  • You will have experience in using evidencebased treatment modalities, or a desire to develop these skills.
  • You will have the ability to network and build relationships
  • You must be a registered health professional with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • A full driver's licence as you will be expected to drive clients when needed
  • Computer skills are essential
  • If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least 12 months
