About the Role:


This is an exciting time for our company as we are experiencing strong growth in the region and this is a great opportunity for staff who want to grow with us.

This role will suit experienced Cable Jointers and/or team leaders who are methodical and customer orientated. We have vacancies currently in Palmerston North

Key Tasks:

  • Carry out maintenance and asset replacement on underground distribution network assets as per the local network standards
  • Install underground reticulation, cables, transformers, and switchgear
  • Replace pillars, cable joints and other underground assets
  • Carry out low voltage and high voltage jointing, up to 33kV, on various cables and sizes
  • Deliver jobs as per the allocated man hours and materials planned
  • Assist with training apprentice/trainee line mechanics
  • Develop positive working relationships with other apprentices and team members
  • Proactively communicate any issues that may hinder the successful completion of a task or health and safety of yourself or others

Health and Safety

  • Take reasonable care that your actions or inactions cause no harm to you or others
  • Actively participate in health and safety matters, meetings and processes.
  • Follow safe working instructions and procedures.
  • Use protective clothing and equipment as and where required.
  • Report incidents, accidents, near misses and hazards in a timely manner as per company and client requirements
  • Understand and implement Critical Risk controls and safe Work Method Statements as per company HSE procedures

What we are looking for:

  • Hold a valid full drivers license. Heavy truck is preferable
  • Hold a valid NZ level 4 cable jointing
  • Aptitude for network distribution electrical work
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices Possess the ability to understand plans, schematics and construction standards
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience on a distribution network
