LightSpeed Tech Center is a centralized platform for LightSpeed Studios, including game engine, audio, QA, AI, tech partnership, research & development, and other tech-related teams.


  • Construct, test, and maintain body and face rigs, skinning, and secondary motion setups for a variety of 3D assets.
  • Use proprietary systems for creating and exporting constraints, custom deformers, and secondary movement to the game engine.
  • Collaborate closely with animators, automation, and other technical artists to create tools and improve pipelines for optimal results from our production workflows and processes.
  • Support facial pipeline and participate in face asset motion capture.
  • Organize, document, and manage libraries of rig modules that can be utilized by a team of riggers across multiple projects.
  • Support and help creating production tools for new pipelines and future tech.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements and research in the field to ensure the cuttingedge motion and deformation of our dynamic art visuals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the video game industry as a Character Rigger, Technical Animator, or a related role, Unreal engine experience is a plus.
  • A demo reel or online portfolio showcasing exceptional skill in creating motion controls for animation, complex deformation, and skinning of characters' body and face.
  • Knowledge of current facial capture methods, FACS poses, facial blend shape rigs, feature detection, etc.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and a strong foundation in 3D math.
  • Experience developing rigging and animation tools.
  • Familiarity with source control software (e.g., Perforce, Git).
  • Excellent communication, selfmanagement, and organizational skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Background in developing pipelines and creating tools.
  • Experience programming C++ plugins for Motionbuilder, Maya, or similar DCCs.
  • Experience of using a solverbased face animation package (e.g., Dynamixyz or Faceware).
  • Professional experience as an Artist or Animator in the gaming industry.
