Applications are now open for our 2024 Hawkins Cadets and Graduates Places are available in Auckland, Waikato, Wellington and Christchurch.
Join Hawkins as a Cadet or Graduate in 2024 and kick start your career with us. During your first two years at Hawkins you will be part of the Graduate and Cadet programme.

After completing the programme, you will become a key Hawkins team member helping to deliver amazing projects for our communities.


Cadets will rotate through the different disciplines of construction with our Cadet Development Plan and be exposed to a range of experiences helping you choose the right career path.

Graduates will follow our Graduate Development Plan giving you the opportunity to develop your technical skills.

With a mix of on-site and in-class learning experiences, you'll learn about:

  • Communication/Relationship Management
  • Engineering and Temporary Works
  • Health, Safety and Environment
  • Lean Construction Practices
  • Site Operation Management
  • Planning and Programming
  • QA and Risk Management
  • Commercial Management
  • Estimating and Tendering
  • Design and Innovation
  • Building Services

Do you have what it takes? We are looking for people who:

  • Are completing an industryrelevant tertiary qualification before the end of 2024, or are recent graduates who have recently completed their qualification
  • Are passionate about developing a career in Construction at Hawkins
  • New Zealand/Australian citizens or permanent residents
  • Are practical, handson, team players who are keen to learn
  • Have some previous work experience or an excellent attitude
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
