    What you'll do
First and foremost, we want you to succeed and grow at Interislander.

This is why we will invest into your initial and ongoing training to build your competencies and confidence to make the right decisions and work safely in our safety critical environment.

Work with an amazing team, support the delivery of outstanding quality meals and provide an excellent customer experience.

This is a Live-on-Board role; work 7 days on and 7 days off (Wednesday-Wednesday).


We have an opportunity for you to use your cooking qualifications, along with your knowledge of the hospitality industry, to provide our customers and crew with an exceptional food experience across our iconic fleet of ferries.

No two days are the same.

One day you could find yourself cooking for up to 80 hungry crew members who are looking forward to some hot nutritious home cooked food, or next feeding excited children on their holidays some of their favourite Kiwi delights.


On other days you could find yourself assigned to look after our passengers in our Premium Lounge where you will be able to show your flair and creativity with the food you are serving.


What you'll need
With exposure to a wide range of cooking styles, practices and techniques, including dessert preparation, pastry, baking and volume preparation and service, you will also have:

  • Either a National Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery) Level 3 or a formal cookery qualification
  • High attention to detail
  • A passion for quality produce and service with culinary expertise
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and genuinely be a team player
  • The ability to demonstrate the maintenance of high standards of food preparation
