Portfolio Manager


The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for leading the ePMO to ensure programme and projects are being delivered in line with the organisational strategy and planning, adhering to the project management framework and governance structure.


The role will plan the overall programmes of work and provide senior oversight, reporting and coordination of interdependent and interrelated projects as well as strategic business initiatives.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Champion the ePMO as a Centre of Excellence for the use of best practice programme and project management methodologies, processes, and tools across the entire organisation.
  • Work with the ELT to support, influence and prioritise the right investments, at the right time, ensuring they are delivered to time and budget.
  • Evaluate and guide the prioritisation and scheduling of the organisation's programme of work to enable effective strategic focus.
  • Recommend opportunities for implementing quality initiatives across the portfolio, programme and project practice, in line with the PPM maturity assessment model.
  • Contribute to and actively promote the organisation's purpose, strategy, vision and values.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key individuals and groups from relevant sectors and organisations for external engagement and collaboration.
  • Support the establishment of a prioritised work programme that is well planned, delivered and reported.
  • Monitor large complex programmes that have encountered challenges, analyse risks and getting them back on track.
  • Custodian of the portfolio framework and helping to embed this effectively.
  • Build trust and confidence in the project/programme capability, building strong relationships across the leadership team.
In addition, you will have direct management of a Portfolio & Reporting Analyst.

You will have a background in either portfolio management, assurance, PMO, advisory or even strategic programme management.

Soft skills will be the making or breaking of the role - you'll need to be a natural relationship builder, a strong influencer, resilient, pragmatic and able to build capability and portfolio maturity in an operationally diverse environment.
