Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW), is the social services arm of the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu. Our Early Childcare Education Centres - Waiapu Kids are located across eight locations in Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti and Hawkes Bay and offer safe, nurturing and educational environments for children and whānau to thrive under the umbrella of Anglican Care Waiapu.


We are looking for a professional and energetic ECE Teaching Assistant to join our experienced team at Waiapu Kids St Mary's Family Centre based in Mt Maunganui.

This is a permanent, part time position, 37.5 hours per week 4 days per week.

Waiapu Kids St Mary's Family Centre is a well established community based Early Childhood Education Centre, offering high quality education and care in a safe and compassionate play based environment.

We cater for up to 50 tamariki aged from 6 months to 6 years.


You'll be part of a close-knit team who are passionate about nurturing children's development through stimulating, fun and enriched interest-based learning.

Positive, respectful relationships with each other, our whānau, tamariki and community are important to us and integral to who we are.


You will be responsible for the day to day education, well-being, and health and safety of all children attending our centre; ensuring provision of education and care to service standards.

You will also demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and bi-cultural practice and meet the teaching Council's required Teaching Standards.

You will have values-based practice conducted with Integrity.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in an Early Childhood Centre,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong professional ethics
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and a commitment to excellent early childhood practice
  • A willingness to embrace the Anglican Care Waiapu values and mission
  • Proven experience in planning, assessment, evaluation and selfreview
  • Knowledge and practice of MOE Licensing Criteria
