Beany was founded over 10 years ago with a mission to change the accounting game, by putting care for our clients and work-life balance for our team first. Our accounting team uses their technical expertise and excellent customer service to help our clients focus on what they do best - running their business - while we take care of the numbers. We've developed our own software to streamline admin for our accountants, freeing them up to focus on the important stuff.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an exceptional Intermediate Accountant to support our Senior Accountant team. In this fully remote role, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere, with the support of a team that knows how to communicate and collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare GST returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations
  • Assist the Senior Accounting team with the preparation and review of financial reports
  • Provide exceptional service to a wide range of clients, including proactive communication, understanding their issues and providing support and advice
  • Providing general accounting and taxation advice to small business clients
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Grow to manage your own portfolio of clients

Requirements

  • A progressive attitude and a strong desire to provide a high level of service to clients
  • Demonstrated skills to assist with end-to-end accounting processes in a dynamic environment, while coping with a variety of competing priorities
  • Proven small business accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years in public practice.
  • Excellent confidence and communication skills - we talk to our clients daily via phone and video
  • Client first focus and relationship driven
  • Sound understanding of SME accounting software packages, particularly Xero.
  • Understanding of XPM practice software is advantageous.

Please be aware that you must be eligible to work in New Zealand to apply for this role. This is an open-ended contract position. Both full-time and part-time options are available, with pay calculated on a pro-rata basis based on the number of hours worked.
