We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Head Teacher to join York Street Kindergarten.This is a full-time position worked 8 hours each day between 8am and 4:30pm.

At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

Community Description

York Street kindergarten is located at the edge of the Masterton community and as such serves both rural and urban families. The surrounding paddocks and park areas give it a strongly urban feel and are well utilised by the team to support their programme.

We are licenced for 42 children who attend for 6 hours each day. You will join our team of 4 other teachers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who has:
  • an ability to build and sustain high trust relationships and to work collaboratively with others in our community to support learning outcomes for tamariki and whanau.
  • a commitment to cultural responsiveness and an ability to implement Te Reo and tikanga Maori into the programme.
  • a commitment to weave localised social cultural curriculum, in response to the Masterton community.
  • an ability to support our Philosophy and our commitment to neuro diverse learners inour "Calmer Classrooms" sensory programme.
  • a commitment to engaging children environmental education and to sustainable ECE practices.
