About the role

Medical Laboratory Scientists within the Component Processing team are responsible for a range of duties including processing of blood and blood products and quality control.


You will be trained to:

  • Manufacture pooled platelets from buffy coats
  • Manufacture cryoprecipitate from plasma
  • Manufacture resuspended red cell, buffy coats and plasma from whole blood
  • Perform quality control testing on the products we manufacture such as bacterial testing
  • Dispense medicine to patients


You will be joining a well-established team of Scientists and Technicians committed to quality service and high standards and patient well-being.

Although the role is currently based in Epsom, an additional site located in Highbrook will open later this year. The successful applicant will be on a rotating roster between Epsom and Highbrook.
Your base salary will be between $55,840 and $80,799 depending on skills, experience and registration.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need to

  • Be registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have the ability to achieve the targets and objectives of the service
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Have the flexibility to fully participate in our 7am midnight rostered, as well as rostered weekend shifts and on call duties as required.
