The Child Development Team (CDT) currently has a vacancy (0.7FTE) for a Senior Speech Language Therapist. The CDT is based at Kidz First Community Health in Manukau, South Auckland.

In this role, you will be supported by a team of Speech Language Therapists, Clinical Leader, a Professional Leader and a Team Leader.

The team environment is fun, yet goal orientated. Our team support a high Maori and Pacifica population and would welcome applicants from these communities.


You will work with a paediatric population (birth to 3 years) with a range of swallowing/feeding and complex communication difficulties.

The service involves predominantly home visits with some work in clinic settings, Telehealth and opportunities for groups. You will assess, diagnose and treat patients accordingly.


Children under our service have a range of diagnoses including, but not limited to, cleft, chromosomal abnormalities, prematurity, airway disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder and global developmental delay.


You will have the opportunity to be involved in a range of exciting clinical areas including carrying out Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies and supporting infants and young children to tube wean.


You will work in partnership with the patient, whanau and other healthcare providers (e.g dietitians, VNT; nurses) in order to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate outcomes of care.


Essential:

  • Registration with the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists' Association
  • At least 5 years of experience with a paediatric caseload
  • Experience in paediatric dysphagia/feeding
  • A full, clean driver's licence

Desired:

  • Previous experience supervising graduate and undergraduate Speech Language Therapists
  • Previous experience with Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) and CAT 1 accreditation.
  • Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Study competency
