An exciting opportunity to contribute to the UCOL whānau.
The Te Atakura coach will assist the UCOL staff to participate in the Te Atakura relationships-based learning. This will help drive parity of educational achievement and experience for Māori and non-Māori students.
This role will foster quality teaching and learning by specifically, and intentionally creating a relationship-based teaching, learning and working environment.
The role will be reporting to the _Kaiarahi Te Atakura_ and will be part of the Te Mana Tauira team.
This role will suit someone who is passionate about people and enjoys creating unique solutions to challenging situations, understands the challenges facing our staff with a drive to support student achievement.
- Strong understanding of Manaakitanga and the ability to interact with all people individually and collectively as culturally located people above all else
- Awareness of tikanga Māori (required) and understanding of te reo Māori (desired)
- A relevant qualification in a related field (or an Adult teaching qualification)
- Functional knowledge of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi
- Functional knowledge of Russell Bishop's relationship based learning model.
- Knowledge of the NZQA framework and New Zealand Qualifications Authority Standards
- Experience with tertiary curriculum development processes.
- Experience with teaching in a tertiary education organisation (desirable).
The role will involve creating a safe space for individuals to self-determine their pathway to success through mana enhancing interactions.
Therefore a strong understanding of Manaakitanga and the ability to interact with all people individually and collectively as culturally located people above all else is integral to the success of this role.
