We have an exciting opportunity for an Outside Plant Designer to join our South Island team.Based in Christchurch, Dunedin or Nelson but will be working on designs nationally.
Gain exposure to NZ's major Telecommunication network providers.
Experience a variety of different activities and tasks using innovative technologies.
About the opportunity:
Day to day tasks include:
Planning, designing, copper and fibre networks.
Identifying and analysing problems and capacity requirements of the existing telecommunications network.
Preparing and interpreting specifications, drawings, and regulations for the use of telecommunications equipment
Compiling client project proposals to define goals, identify scope, background, cost of equipment, parts, and services
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in the provision of telecommunications systems
This is a full-time permanent role paying between $65k
About you:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Outside Plant Designer to join our team.
To be successful in this role you will have:
A Bachelor of Engineering, Engineering Technology or similar is desirable but not essential.
Experience in a similar position or cost estimating would be an advantage.
An in-depth knowledge of Telecommunication technology and practices, including those of major customers
Skills & experience in relevant customer software systems, word processing, spread sheeting and other computer software, specifically
Arc GIS and/or AutoCAD
Microsoft Office
Strong interpersonal skills as you will need to build and grow strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience with, and a strong commitment to health and safety initiatives
The aptitude to deal with a fast-moving environment where change is the new norm
The confidence and ability to take an active part in continuous improvement opportunities within Design
A sound understanding of the financial requirements of the tendering and design processes
A proven level of reliability in meeting deadlines, and commitments
An understanding of commercial acumen
