The Early Childhood Team at UCOL Te Pukenga has an exciting opportunity available

We are looking for a full-time permanent Placement Coordinator Early Childhood Education and Care on the Manawatu campus.

This role would suit a passionate individual keen to support students enrolled in all of our Early Childhood Education and Care Programmes on the Manawatu, Whanganui and Horowhenua Campuses.


As a member of UCOL's Early Childhood Team you will have the ability to inspire others to pursue and achieve their goals by offering them quality practicum placements and guidance.

You will engage, support and motivate the students to achieve their qualification, the first step to achieving their ambition.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring appropriate systems are in place to guarantee quality learning is available for all professional experience placements
  • Facilitating the delivery of the professional experience placement components
  • Maintaining appropriate academic and practicum placement records and CA checks to meet faculty, teaching council and Children's Act 2014 requirements and ensure high quality standards
  • Proactively develops and maintains strong stakeholder relationships within industry
  • Undertaking assessment within a Practical Environment

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

  • Current Teachers Registration
  • Experience teaching in an early childhood setting and/or tertiary teaching experience in the area of Early Childhood is desired
  • Team player
  • Solution focused and process driven
  • Proven relationship management skills
  • Ability to adjust communications style to different audiences
  • High level negotiation skills and proven ability to reach agreement
  • Sound judgment and decision making amongst competing demands
  • Ability to link longrange visions and strategies to current activity
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • NZ Full driver's licence
UCOL Te Pūkenga is a government-funded Institute of Technology, with four campuses in Manawatu, Whanganui, Wairarapa and Horowhenua.

It meets the needs of local communities and industry by providing tertiary level training to over 6,000 students each year through a wide range of programmes from entry level certificates and foundation courses to diplomas, degrees and opportunities in post graduate study.
