The Opportunity:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic Speech Language Therapist to join the ORL team.

We are looking for a senior Speech Language Therapist with advanced skills in the assessment and management of communication impairments, specifically of voice disorders, in patients under the care of the ORL service.

A working knowledge of nasoendoscopy, dysphagia and laryngectomy is desirable, from a service development perspective but is not essential for the clinical role.


You will be able to work autonomously, as well as be part of a multi-disciplinary and wider Speech Language Therapy team.

This position will provide an opportunity to work in collaboration with the inpatient and community based Speech Language Therapists and ongoing support will be provided as required.

There will be opportunities for on-going professional development, peer review and formal supervision which will be well supported.

The ideal person for this role will have the following skills and attributes:

  • New Zealand approved qualification to practice speech and language therapy
  • Membership with NZSTA with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Advanced Stroboscopy competencies
  • A minimum of 6 years post qualification clinical experience working with adults, as a speech language therapist
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in the area of voice therapy
  • An understanding of bicultural issues and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
  • A proven record of accomplishment in leading others and driving service development and implementing change/improvements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Drive, energy, initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
