Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We have a Receptionist position available in our busy Emergency Department. The role is essential in assisting with the smooth running of the department.

In this role you will be required to work rostered rotating shifts covering a 24 hour period 7 days a week as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Skills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role:

  • Previous reception, administrative and/or customer service experience
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a variety of tasks
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Other essential attributes include selfmotivation, initiative and flexibility in an ever changing fast paced environment
  • Experience working in a medical environment or knowledge of medical terminology would be preferable

Thames Hospital is a fully modernised rural and secondary hospital service, providing healthcare for a catchment population of 45,000.

Our hospital provides a 15 bed consultant-led emergency department seeing 18,000 patients per year which is supported by 24/7 laboratory and radiology services, including CT.


  • The inpatient unit has 48 beds split between general medicine, low acuity surgery and rehabilitation. We maintain a busy day surgery service and outpatient clinic with our both own consultants providing treatment in addition to specialist consultants who visit daily during the week and provide a range of specialist services.
