About the role


We're looking for a Design Delivery Manager to lead high quality design project delivery during the Planning and Design phase of key Land Development and Infrastructure projects as part of LEAD Alliance.

These complex projects deliver build-ready land and infrastructure overseen by Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities for large scale developments.


The Design Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery of design packages that are to the right level of quality, are coordinated across all disciplines, meet the appropriate standards and are constructable.


Your key duties include:

  • Ensuring the Design Team resources are allocated and managed to be within the forecast budgets and respective programmes.
  • Providing accurate and timely monthly resource forecasting to support the monthly reporting.
  • Actively manage cost and budget responsibilities, demonstrating strong ownership for cost outcome whilst solving issues that could impact cost, programme and timely delivery of projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Change Evaluation is undertaken when there is a change in design costs or programme dates from what has been forecast.
  • Proactively manage risks associated with change by following change management guidelines and procedures.
  • Be the point of escalation for the Design Team during the Neighbourhood Planning and Detailed Design phases of projects.
  • Support the Design team to ensure growth and development of staff, creating a good team working culture and striving to be an excellent people leader, not just a manager
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and delivery within the team.
  • Ensure the team delivers to the expected level of quality, compliance and processes as set out in the Neighbourhood Planning Guide and Design Management Plan.

Your skills and experience

  • Chartered Professional Engineer
  • 15+ years industry knowledge and experience in a role of similar scope, with a full understanding of the specialisation and the ability to resolve a wide range of issues independently.
  • Alliancing or New Zealand land development experience preferable.
  • Indepth knowledge of engineering compliance requirements on land development and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Team building and leadership; Skilled at getting the best out of people, driving a culture of high engagement, high performance and managing their resources effectively.
  • Driven, productive, results orientated
  • Will roll up your sleeves up to get things done and lead by example.
  • Experience as an NZS 3910 Engineer to the Contract preferable
