Emerge Aotearoa is a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, wellbeing and housing services. Providing support across our Mental Health services, you will join tāngata whaiora on their recovery journey, provide a safe environment for whaiora and support them with their goals and daily tasks.

Whānau who reside in the service currently require sophisticated support interventions from diverse team of residential staff.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role


You'll provide direct support to tāngata whaiora but will also be given the opportunity to be involved in service development and best practice ideas for this innovative service.

You will be well supported by your colleagues, service manager, health professionals and the wider emerge whanau.

As this role covers
both adult and youth services (including dual disability), this is a great opportunity to gain relevant experience across different services and clients.


In this role you'll create a safe, nurturing space for people who we support and will focus on daily tasks and the identified goals while walking alongside the person as they work towards those goals.


This is a casual role which means that there are no guaranteed hours of work, however, this also means you have the flexibility to choose which available shifts you want to.

As you will work across different services you will experience management from different managers, however, our managers have many years of experience, and we like to have an open and collaborative management style.


He kōrero mōu | About You
We are looking for individuals with a can-do attitude.

To meet the requirements and demands of this role, you will need to be flexible and have the ability to cope with challenging behaviour with calmness and a good sense of humour and have a hands-on, engaging approach.

You'll contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and create a safe, calm and nurturing spaces whānau. You'll encourage whānau to engage in therapy, meaningful programmes and educational/vocational activities.


You'll naturally be a problem solver, quick thinker and enjoy connecting with the community in line with the reintegration plan.

You'll use your non-judgemental attitude and belief to encourage clients to change and grow. You'll look to celebrate the success of tāngata whaiora while on their recovery and wellbeing journey.


To be successful in this role, a Level 4 qualification in Health & Wellbeing (or higher) is desirable, however; if you're passionate about our organisation and you're willing to work towards a qualification we'll support you as much as we can.

You'll require previous knowledge and experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities or complex mental health diagnosis' and needs who currently require sophisticated support interventions.
