We are looking for a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Histology team at LabPlus, Auckland City Hospital.

The Anatomical Pathology Department is a major referral laboratory comprising of several disciplines. These include Histology, Non-gynae Cytology and Electron Microscopy. We work with other external hospitals from around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

This means we report on a broad range of specimens and to service this diversity we have an experienced team with specialist knowledge.

We are fortunate to have a large number of Consultant Pathologists with considerable experience. We also have a very proficient Scientific and Technical team all working together to provide a quality service.


Our methods, training, expertise and knowledge conform to the highest standards expected by our peers and the community at large.

We enjoy a close association with the University of Auckland Medical School and participate in external Quality Assurance Programmes

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This role is based primarily in the Histopathology Team.

It covers all aspects of the routine Histology laboratory, from specimen receipt, frozen sections, cut up, embedding, microtomy, special stains, direct immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry and QC.

There is also the potential to roster in the more specialised areas of dissection, muscle biopsies and Mohs as well as participating in the on call roster.
