Medical Laboratory Technician/Trainee

Canterbury Southern Community Laboratories, a division of Asia Pacific Healthcare Group (APHG), has proudly provided pathology services to New Zealanders since 1960.

We operate medical laboratories throughout the country.

_ About the Role_

  • Medical Laboratory Technician in our Haematology Department
  • Permanent parttime 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday but the days could be flexible
  • Evening shifts 4.30pm to 8.30pm
  • Processing specimens through our automated Haematology analysers
  • Preparing samples for processing and for referral to other laboratories
  • Monitoring analyser performance
  • Telephoning urgent results to referrers

_ If would be an advantage to have:_

  • A sound knowledge of laboratory operations including safety, operation of equipment, and handson practical experience
  • A Diploma in Applied Science or a Batchelor of Science
  • Full or Provisional Registration, and a current Annual Practicing Certificate, with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand

_ To succeed in this role, you will need:_

  • Experience and/or a qualification in the relevant field is preferred, _but not essential_
  • A positive and friendly approach to your work
  • The ability to work in a methodical manner, adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines
  • Discipline, selfmotivation, and a positive approach to work
  • Effective time management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer focus and a commitment to providing a high quality of service
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand
