A little about the company


A global business in the tech sector who are hugely successful in their niche, they have gained an enviable reputation and provide a great office environment with plenty of fun and flexibility which has harboured an awesome staff culture.

While the offices in the CBD are great, there is no parking provided but there is a huge amount of remote working flexibility with a very global approach so if you are keen to WFH once you've learned the ropes, this is totally do-able


This Kiwi-originated success story are looking to hire a hands-on Assistant Accountant / Company Accountant to initially oversee the day-to-day accounting for one of their businesses trading in Japan.

The role will likely grow from here as these guys are growing rapidly - acquiring a new entity every quarter at this rate and no plan to slow down

About the role
The role reports directly into a locally based Finance Manager (who Consult Recruitment placed last year).

You need to be able to work effectively both locally and internationally, particularly being flexible with the time differences when required.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Bank, Balance Sheet & GL reconciliations
  • Monthend close & accrual journal entries
  • Tax requirements
  • Ad hoc analysis
  • General accounts/admin support to wider Finance & Ops teams
  • Weekly & monthly reporting, feeding into annual accounts
  • Assist with budgeting & forecasting
  • Maintain Fixed Asset register depending on experience

So Who Are You & What Is Your Profile?
First of all, you MUST be fluent in Japanese as well as English. It will be amazing if you have worked in a Japanese company before, be it here or in Japan. You'll have a strong foundation in basic accounting principles and 2-5 years of experience in an accounts role.

Ideally, you'll have a relevant degree and maybe you're even studying toward CA/CPA - highly encouraged and mentorship will be available to support your growth.

You've used some financial accounting software/ERP systems, Netsuite in particular would be great but that is not a deal-breaker at all.

You can work independently, you're proactive and able to build effective relationships maintaining impeccable communication across the business areas.

You don't even need to be based in Auckland but to get the best from the culture it would be great to be able to spend your training period in the Auckland CBD office.
