We are seeking expressions of interest for an Engagement Manager to join the Agency Partnering team within the Data System Capability branch.

This is a fixed-term role until Dec 2023.

Join our team as an Engagement Manager and become a driving force in establishing and nurturing trusted relationships within our cutting-edge data system.

Your role will be instrumental in building system intelligence, fostering connections, and aligning agency needs with system capabilities and goals.

We are seeking an individual who can grasp the big picture of data system trends and effectively identify the necessary shifts to create an inclusive and integrated data system that unlocks the full value of data for the benefit of all New Zealanders.

As an Engagement Manager, you will bring your expertise in relationship management and your deep understanding of the government environment and public sector.


You will have the opportunity to make a real impact by clearly articulating the value of data and data interoperability, showcasing how they directly benefit all of Aotearoa New Zealand.

With your excellent communication skills and ability to influence others, you will inspire action and foster collaboration across diverse audiences.

We are seeking an agile thinker who is comfortable working in both structured and non-structured environments.

Your customer-oriented approach and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders will be essential in achieving our system outcomes.

Additionally, your well-developed understanding of data, its lifecycle, and its management and governance will be highly valuable in driving strategic deliverables.


To excel in this role, you should have a strong desire to learn and understand Te Ao Māori, actively engaging with opportunities to incorporate this knowledge into your work.

Your ability to build relationships both externally and internally, as well as your thought leadership in developing guidelines and frameworks, will be instrumental in achieving meaningful change.
