The Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) office is an awarding winning team which forms the University's centralised point of contact for philanthropic partners and for alumni and friends.

Our team includes Development and Alumni Relations personnel and a range of staff to support them to connect and engage with alumni and donors.


Job Description:

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity


The Alumni Relations Adviser role identifies and promotes the talent, advocacy and support of alumni to contribute to University strategic goals through a wide range of alumni engagement mechanisms, delivered both nationally and internationally.

It advises and supports University departments with alumni engagement and collaborates with faculty alumni managers to increase alumni engagement.


This role will have a wide variety of responsibilities and will coordinate multiple engagement activities for the University's local and glabal alumni community of more than 200,000.

They will report to the Alumni Relations Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide volunteering opportunities to alumni globally, through volunteering opportunities and alumni networks/affinity groups.
  • Advise the Alumni Relations Manager on the strategic direction of engagement opportunities and independently implement them in support of the University's strategic goals ensuring they are alumnicentric.
  • Engage with alumni affinity groups and networks such as the University of Auckland Society as well as senior and influential alumni through bespoke programmes and communications.
  • Build relationships with key University partners and vendors and work with other University staff to enhance and promote the range of alumni benefits to increase engagement.
  • Contribute to the quality of alumni data by tracking and recording alumni engagement activities as well as improving the range and quality of data held.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Between five to seven years working in an environment requiring high levels of customer service delivery.
  • An advanced level of oral and written English Language communication skills.
  • Developed interpersonal skills with the ability to acknowledge cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent computer literacy, with advanced skills in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Appropriate qualification at degree level (e.g. marketing, communication, management, or sociology), or demonstrated relevant experience.
