The role will be part of a Rapid Response model within the Te Waipounamu me Te Whanganui-a-Tara Youth Justice regional team.
You will be providing supervisory oversight to Youth Justice Coordinators and Social Workers as required in different areas of the region as shifting demand requires as the result of workload pressures and/or vacancies.
This busy role will require the successful applicant to be available to respond across the region; you will have an ability to quickly build relationships, and have extremely strong knowledge of Youth Justice legislation, Youth Justice practice and Family Group Conference processes.

- Proven and successful people management experience including motivating people for improved practice and performance
- A comprehensive knowledge of Youth Justice legislation, Youth Justice practice and Family Group Conferencing.
- Successful management of risk in critical situations and supporting a team to manage competing demands.
- Proven experience in supporting staff with complex situations, and the use of reflective supervision and coaching.
- Understanding and sensitivity to multicultural matters, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
- Knowledge of, and established links to, community networks and experience working in collaboration with community partners and government agencies; including work in multidisciplinary situations both internally and externally.
- A full clean driver license.
- A Social Work qualification, Registration and current Practising Certificate.
Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts from $103,785.12 dependant on experience.
