Permanent role, 20 hours p/w

We are seeking a Carbon Analyst to join the Climate Change team to advance the climate change response within Council and the wider community.

This is a permanent part-time position, 20 hours per week to support Council with its commitment to being a climate leader by reducing emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change

In this role, you will work with the Climate Change team by leading data analysis on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and identifying opportunities to increase Council's energy efficiency

Specifically, you will:

• Take the lead on developing the inventory of Council operational GHG emissions
• Support the development of the community GHG emissions inventory for Nelson region
• Conduct energy audits for Council facilities
• Lead development of an Energy Management System system based in ISO 50001.

Does this sound like you?

You will have relevant experience in GHG inventory development and reporting, along with experience in conducting energy audits.

You will have core strengths in analytics, Excel skills using spreadsheet, graphics and formulas to process large quantities of data with proven experience in the detailed analysis, interpretation and communication of data and trends.

You will be highly pragmatic and action-oriented and committed to supporting the Council to reduce GHG emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

You will already be familiar with the work of agencies (science, government and NGOs) and researchers monitoring and reporting on climate change along with a comprehensive understanding of the causes and effects of climate change.

You will be able to quickly identify where Council can make an impact to reduce emissions and improve its energy efficiency, and work effectively with others to deliver meaningful improvements.

You will have strong relationship management and communication skills and thrive when solving complex situations while demonstrating sound judgement and political acumen.

Salary range:
$37,060 to $40,284 for part time role ($74,121 to $80,567 is the full time equivalent)
