  • The National Buyer will create and execute a market leading offer that inspires customers and helps them improve and enjoy living in their homes and communities. They will contribute to the strengthening of the Bunnings instore and online offer, consistent with the business strategies, objectives and financial targets.
  • Here, you will also build and develop supply sources and supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply and ongoing innovation.

As a National Buyer, you can expect to:

  • Set the merchandise range / assortment for a designated department within the strategies and brand architecture of the category-
  • Ensure adequate range flexibility to address variability for both geographic locations and demographic changes-
  • Continually seek out opportunities to drive innovation, lower costs and deliver breathtaking value to customers-
  • Negotiate product prices, volumes and terms with suppliers-
  • Develop appropriate training programs in conjunction with suppliers and human resources-
  • Understand the competitive landscape both locally and globally for the designated category departments-
  • Regularly visit, check, and assess competitor product assortments and pricing to identify opportunities and ensure EDLP-
  • Ensure that department and product specific promotional programs are developed and implemented to support buying plans-
  • Develop annual business plans outlining product, pricing, and marketing strategies consistent with the broader category and business objectives-
  • Provide appropriate developmental opportunities and support to trainee buyers and buyers assistants-
  • Ensure new products are compliant with all regulatory and other requirements-
  • Have a safety-first focus across all aspects of the function and designated department.

To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to engage, liaise and work with cross functional stakeholders to effectively influence, communicate and implement strategies throughout the network.

Further requirements include;- Degree or Diploma in Marketing/Commerce area an advantage Proven buying experience in multi-store environment/retailer essential Strong business acumen & knowledge/understanding of the market & competitive landscape Proven leadership capability in coaching, mentoring and developing teams Be an experienced negotiator, with the ability to manage high pressure situations Be a strong communicator with an entrepreneurial flair.
