Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand Public Trust Full time

We're New Zealand's largest provider of estate planning and management services.
At Public Trust we help New Zealanders protect what matters most to them and their whānau.

Our wide range of services make the tricky parts of life a little simpler, so our customers can get back to doing what they love.

Our retail business works with customers on their estate plans - predominantly by writing wills, enduring powers of attorneys and trusts - either in our branches or via our online service.

We also manage and administer estates, carrying out the wishes laid out in our customers' wills. We are the largest estate administrator in the country, and it is our core business activity.

The work we do can be tough at times, so it's important that our people can demonstrate the empathy, emotional intelligence, and resilience that is needed when helping our customers plan for their future.

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Trustee to join our Hamilton Customer Centre.

Our Senior Trustees form a key part of our trustee teams, partnering with our Associate and Principal Trustees to provide exceptional service by connecting with our customers to manage their family assets, wills, estates, enduring powers of attorney and trusts in order to plan for their future.

In this varied role, you will support the Principal Trustee on more complex files, while coaching and mentoring our Associate Trustees on less complex work.

You will work with customers face to face and behind the scenes to establish their needs and provide appropriate solutions from Public Trust's products and services.

This is a unique opportunity that requires someone with a high level of empathy, commercial acumen and exceptional interpersonal skills to work with our customers in what can often be a difficult time for them.

Who we're looking for
Specialist knowledge of our industry and products is not required as we provide training, however having a positive attitude, the ability to learn and problem-solve, as well as having integrity and resilience are integral to being successful in this role

We are looking for:

  • Experience as a trustee or legal executive or in a corporate or administrative role is preferred
  • Several years' experience in a role that has involved working with diverse people experiencing challenging circumstances where you have had to think critically, solve complex problems and provide quality communication
  • Experience collaborating and coaching within a wider team
  • The ability to selfmanage, work flexibly and prioritise work
  • Self motivated to learn and seek out the information you need
  • Exposure to basic accounting concepts would be helpful.

Public Trust has a purpose built learning and professional development framework that supports individuals to become Trustee experts and progress their career.

Once you join, you'll be guided through a series of formal learning and on the job experiences, supported by experts in the field.

As you become more qualified, the more you'll earn and the more you'll contribute to New Zealanders who need you.

Our values are:

People are at the heart of everything we do | We make the tricky seem simple | We are better when we work together | We have the courage to make a difference.
