Community description
Northland Kindergarten is situated in the suburb of Northland which is a well-established area close to central Wellington, on the city fringe. Families come to the kindergarten from a geographically widespread area. The kindergarten's special character is that they regularly take children on walks into the nearby bush and community. This is also part of their focus on a sustainable and localised curriculum, knowing about and caring for their local environment. A strength of the team is their commitment to Te Ao Māori and continuing to grow their Te Tiriti o Waitangi practices.
We are licensed for 41 children and operate as a full year kindergarten which means we are open throughout the school holidays.
Our children attend for 6 hours each day. You will join our team of 4 other trained and registered teachers.
To apply for this teaching position, you need to address the key skills or abilities listed below. We ask that you talk about these in your covering letter. Please remember to attach your covering letter, resume and other relevant information as listed in the Application Requirements on our website.
We are looking for an ECE leader who:
demonstrates a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to continuing to grow Te Tiriti-based practice across the curriculum.
